Le Grand Lodge in Mont-Tremblant, Quebec is a spectacular venue to hold an outdoor wedding ceremony. A gorgeous site, overlooking the lake and the Canadian landscape, it’s the kind of place your guests will always remember and makes for pretty amazing wedding photos, especially when you get the kind of light we had on Melanie & Matthew’s wedding day!

This wedding in the heart of the Laurentian mountains was a really informal affair with the emphasis on having a fantastic day with friends and family and celebrating this lovely couple. It was my first time photographing a wedding at Le Grand Lodge even though it’s one of the most popular wedding venues in Mont-Tremblant. But what a great one to begin with!

GRAND LODGE TREMBLANT WEDDING

I began the day hanging out with Melanie and the girls as they prepared for the wedding in a big room with a balcony overlooking the lake. The makeup artists set up on the balcony which made for some unique bridal prep shots. Far better than some dark, cramped hotel room! Matthew was also getting ready with the boys so it was easy for me to move between rooms and capture both boys and girls as I was shooting the wedding solo.

The outdoor ceremony was in a picture perfect setting but did present some challenges with the harsh sun. The bride was in full sunshine while the groom’s face was in shadow. Not ideal but that’s the photographer in me speaking. Nobody else even noticed I’m sure.

Le Grand Lodge is one of those wedding venues surrounded by amazing photo locations. There’s no need to walk more than a few hundred feet to find forests, wooden shacks and of course that lake with the mountains in the background. On top of that we had some gorgeous light in the golden hour just before sunset.

After the sunset, it was party time and these guys threw a fantastic party til the early hours.
