I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; doing intimate engagement shoots in the streets of old Montreal never gets old for me. After 8 years I am still discovering new things. Check out Valerie and Nada’s shoot where we ended up at the old port after some adventuring through St. Henri. For this ice breaker shoot we met up near the Notre-Dame Basilica and braved the cold. Well…I was dressed like I was going on an expedition to the arctic, so I was warm and toasty. Raja and Eva were the true heroes. You’ll see a couple images in and around one of my favourite cafes in the old port. I’m actually doing a few weddings there in 2019. Check it out if you’re looking for a great venue in Montreal; Crew Collective and Cafe. Right after sunset we went back out to catch some of those incredible blue tones I love so much.
I could write a big blab about Eva and Raja, but I’ll let their answers to some of my wacky questions do the talking.
Why are you getting married?
We’re getting married because we want to consolidate all the wonderful work we did as a couple in the past 4 years. We laid some amazing foundations to build our future family and we want to celebrate those foundations with the people we care the most about
Have you ever caught your partner picking their nose?
Eva picks her nose very rarely and when she does she’s very subtle about it (or tries to be lol).
Why did you pick me as a photographer?
First and foremost, we picked you because that caramel bum of yours matched Raja’s. The fact that your talent and creativity are just pure bliss is only secondary in our decision making.
How do you envision your big day?
We envision that day to be a whirlwind of love and emotion and we’re going to work really hard to be in the present moment and enjoy all the magic surrounding us.
Why did you guys want to do an engagement shoot/pre-shoot?
The pre-shoot was just another excuse to spend time together doing something different and also a very good way to bond with our caramel flavoured photographer.
We felt that you managed to capture the complicity that we have together and that you were able to create with some of the pictures a thousand words of story telling.
Which photo is your favourite?
Our favourite photo is the one that we picked for the save the dates (the one after sunset where we are kissing in the middle of Notre Dame Street, snow falling around us).
What’s the thing you love most about your partner (mentally).
My favourite thing about Eva is her gigantic sensitivity and her beautiful and masterful creativity that she applies to all sorts of fields like sewing (I mean who the hell still sews and does embroidery at 29 years old in 2019??!). My favourite thing about Raja is his calming and problem solving personality. It really complements me in a way that I never thought possible.
What’s your favourite physical feature of your partner ?
The best physical thing about Eva is her smile; she has the most radiating and gorgeous smile I have ever seen in a human being. She lights up a whole room when she smiles. I could name a 100 other aspects, but she’d get shy ;). My favourite physical thing about Raja is just his incredible sense of style. He can wear anything with so much swagger, it’s amazing! And of course, his butt!
Well..this caramel bum can’t wait to shoot Eva and Raja’s wedding this upcoming season!
