HOW DO YOU QUALIFY A PROFESSIONAL?

Well, that’s a good question. A lot of people  in any industry might call themselves “professionals” without even knowing what exactly that entails. Many people qualify the terms as: Someone who makes money from a particular industry. 

Personally, we qualify a professional based on a famous quote that we live by everyday: The difference between an amateur and a professional is the ability to deliver the work, without excuses. 

When it comes to choosing photographers for a database however, it’s difficult to ask for proof that they are able to do the job right, the first time.Which is why we created requirements to ensure that you, the client, can book any of these photographers without the worry of not getting what you paid for. 

The photographers on this websites had to qualify based on these requirements: 

1. They are a legal business allowed to work in Canada and/or the countries where they are getting hired for by having an NEQ number. This number identifies that they are a legal company in the province of Quebec.
2. They have been in business (as a photographer specializing in weddings) for at least 2 years. New photographers are awesome, but we want people that know the industry very well.
3. They have a full working website (not only a Facebook page)
4. They are primarily a wedding photographer. They can photograph other industries too but your website mostly pushes weddings.
5. Their smallest wedding package is at least of 2000$. Photographers who are just getting started will often charge less and we understand that, but, as a professional, you quickly learn that you cannot run a proper business charging low prices. We encourage photographers that care about the caliber of our industry and that begins with pricing. 
6. All their clients (you) sign a legal document/contract when they book. We care about clients and want to make sure everyone is protected with clear policies and liability specifications.
7. All the photos that they put on their portfolio are THEIRS. We do not accept businesses with multiple shooters so that you know who you are hiring.
8. They have references from clients that RAVE about them to place on their profiles for potential clients to see.
9. They work with a personal mission that aligns with mykindofpeople.ca which agrees to never discriminate potential clients based on their race, gender, sexual orientation or way of life in general. As client, YOU ARE SAFE HERE.

These qualifications are not fool proof. Some professionals can meet all these requirements and still be a bad fit for some clients. It doesn’t mean that they are not professionals however. It could simply mean that they don’t have the same priorities than you. We always recommend that you MEET VENDORS BEFORE YOU BOOK to see if they are a good fit for your personality and values.

All we can say if that the people on our site meet the requirements stated above. They have a lot of experience and are legal businesses in the eye of the Government of Canada.
